Stone Enjoy By 01.01.21 Unfiltered IPA

9.4% alcohol. 90 IBU. Introduced in Nov., 2020. Brewed in America by Stone.

"For this version of Stone Enjoy By IPA we thought: “We don’t always have a filter, so why should our beer?” By skipping a step and letting this devastatingly fresh, golden-hued double IPA go un filtered, the beer takes on a hazy appearance and its peach and tropical fruit hop aroma are intensified. So though it may sound like it, this missed step was no misstep.

Like the other IPAs in this series, this version is brewed specifically NOT to last."

First Pitch

5.7% alcohol. Introduced in 2017. Brewed in Louisiana by Rally Cap.

"First Pitch is our flagship Hazy Pale Ale, so you can expect to see this beer on tap very regularly. Thanks to a generous helping of wheat and oats, this 5.7% brew is light in color and carries a nice, soft mouth feel. This soft palette allows for the hop flavors to clearly shine through in this one. Plenty of Citra and Sabro hops results in a beer that pops with citrus, stone fruit, and coconut flavors - we think you’ll enjoy this one!"

The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve

40% alcohol. Introduced in 2015. Produced in Scotland by The Glenlivet Distillery.

"To truly capture the essence of George Smith’s vision, The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve has been created using the time-honoured distillation methods that he introduced so long ago. Made with water from the same crystal-clear mountain streams, in the same cold, pure air, The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve is as smooth and fruity as the whisky that first ran from the original copper pot stills. These unique, lantern-shaped copper stills, designed by the man himself, are not the only important tools in our distilling legacy. The traditional oak casks in which we mature the whisky give each expression its own distinct characteristics. When George Smith began distilling, The Glenlivet had no age statements and he selected whisky from casks of a range of ages. We have replicated this freedom with The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve, selecting whisky from a variety of traditional aged oak casks. Then, to lend a modern twist to the flavour of the expression, Master Distiller Alan Winchester marries together a selection of the aged oak casks and American first-fill oak casks. American first-fill oak casks are those that have never before been used to mature whisky. Selective use of these casks provides a smooth, creamy sweetness that mingles harmoniously with the delicate flavours and complex fruity tones already present in the whisky."

    Mighty Cascade Brut IPA

     5.4% alcohol. 40 IBU.

"Mighty Cascade Brut IPA from Kennebunkport Brewing Company (KBC) in Maine is right on the cutting edge of alternative IPAs. It’s a fusion of old and new that presents a super drinkable, refreshing take on India Pale Ale.

It starts with Cascade hops (that’s the “old”), the original hop that really helped push craft beer into the mainstream. Cascade is the backbone for many West Coast IPAs and for good reason with its pleasant floral aromas and citrus notes.

The “new” is found in the use of El Dorado hops for bouquet and Champagne yeast for fermentation. This yeast ferments cleanly and imparts minimal flavor for a crisp, very dry finish—similar to brut (“dry”) Champagne. Malt-wise, Pilsner malt promotes a delicate mouthfeel, while the addition of flaked oat helps create smoothness.

The final, masterful result is a light-golden colored, bubbly beer with floral aromas and bright, delicious, citrus notes all delivered on a crisp, dry, highly effervescent mouthfeel. Enjoy Mighty Cascade Brut IPA cold, poured into a tulip glass."

Campanology Coffee Peanut Butter Cup Porter

9% alcohol. Introduced in 2020. Brewed in Wisconsin by Octopi Brewing for Campanology Brewing (Trader Joe's).

"Beer for dessert? Dessert beer? Both, please. And thank you.

Campanology Coffee Peanut Butter Cup Porter, typical of porters, is a dark beer. It starts with more sugar than usual (roughly 30%). This makes the end result sweeter. The extra sugar provides more food for fermentation, which also results in higher gravity; in this case, 9% alcohol by volume (ABV). It’s brewed with chocolate malt, roasted barley, and coffee. Milk sugar contributes a creamier mouthfeel and some peanut butter powder gives it, well, hints of peanut butter! These nutty notes ride on top of the dark, dense porter body and play upon the more prominent chocolate and coffee flavors.

What the occasion for this beer? No need to be too specific, although it makes a good end to a savory meal. It also serves nicely as a liquid dessert, by itself, or paired with one or two of our famous Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups.

We hinted at this in an episode of our podcast, Inside Trader Joe’s, way back in June, and now it’s finally here! We’re selling each 22 fluid ounce bottle of Campanology Coffee Peanut Butter Cup Porter for $3.99 (plus deposit where required), while supplies last!"
